About auto-renewal and cancellations

  • Your subscription will automatically renew until you decide to cancel it in Your Memberships and Subscriptions . At the time of renewal we will charge your selected payment method or another eligible payment method we have on file for you.
  • New subscribers are entitled to a full refund within 7 days after purchase for subscriptions that are longer than 1 month. Cancellation outside of the refund window will result in auto-renew being turned off: you will have access through the end of your billing period and will not be billed again.
  • Subscriptions can be canceled at any time with no early termination fees. No partial refunds will be given for cancellations outside of the refund window. However, you will still have access through the end of your last paid billing period.
  • For subscriptions with a billing period of 6 months or greater, or where legally required, Amazon will notify you when the subscription is set to renew. You may change your credit card, address information or cancel your subscription before you are charged again.
  • Customers are eligible for only 1 free trial or introductory offer for any single subscription.
  • Customers can always access payment details and invoices in Your Digital Orders

Amazon Rapids Terms of Use

Last Modified: November 1, 2016

Welcome to the Terms of Use for Amazon Rapids. This is an agreement between you and Amazon Digital Services LLC and/or its affiliates ("Amazon.com", "We" or "Us") regarding the Amazon Rapids reading subscription, application, stories, and associated software and services (collectively, the "Services"). The Services allow you to read stories provided through the Amazon Rapids application ("Application") as described below. Please note that your use of the Amazon.com website, the Services and Application are also governed by the agreements listed and linked to below, as well as all other applicable terms, conditions, limitations, and requirements on the Amazon.com website, all of which (as changed over time) are incorporated into these Terms of Use (collectively, the "Agreement"). The Services are "Amazon Services" and the Application is "Amazon Software" as defined in the Amazon.com Conditions of Use. If you sign up for or use the Services, you accept these terms, conditions, limitations and requirements. The Services are available to residents of the United States.

1. THE SERVICES

1.1 The Subscription. As a subscriber to Amazon Rapids, you may read stories provided through the Application an unlimited number of times for so long as you are a subscriber. From time to time, we may add or remove stories from the Services and we make no guarantee as to the availability of specific stories or the minimum number of stories available. If your subscription ends, you may no longer have access to the stories in the Services.

1.2 Fees and Renewal. The subscription fees for Amazon Rapids are stated in our Help pages. From time to time, we may offer different subscription terms, and the fees for such subscriptions may vary. Subscription fees may be subject to tax and are non-refundable except as expressly set forth in the Agreement. We only accept credit cards for payment of your subscription fees. Please do not sign up for a subscription with a debit card. Also known as a "check" or "ATM" card, a debit card typically has the word "debit" printed on the face of the card.

Unless you notify us before a charge that you want to cancel or do not want to auto renew, you understand your Amazon Rapids subscription will automatically continue and you authorize us (without notice to you, unless required by applicable law) to collect the then-applicable subscription fees and any taxes, using any payment method we have on record for you.

If all credit cards we have on file for you are declined for payment of your subscription fees, your subscription will be canceled unless you provide us with a new credit card. If you provide us with a new credit card and are successfully charged before your subscription is cancelled, your new subscription period will be based on the original renewal date and not the date of the successful charge.

1.3 Subscription Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription by visiting Your Account and adjusting your subscription settings. Details on adjusting your subscription settings can be found in our Help pages. If you cancel your subscription, you will not receive a refund of any subscription fees already paid.

1.4 Restrictions. We reserve the right to accept or refuse subscriptions in our discretion. You may not transfer or assign your subscription or any Amazon Rapids subscription benefits. We may take reasonable actions necessary to prevent fraud.

1.5 Promotional Trial Subscriptions. We sometimes offer certain customers various trial or other promotional subscriptions, which are subject to the Agreement except as otherwise stated in the promotional offers. Trial members may at any time (through Your Account) choose not to continue to paid subscription at the end of the trial period.

2. THE APPLICATION

2.1 The Application. We may make the Application available to you directly or through one or more application stores. The Application may be compatible only with certain operating systems, platforms, or devices, or may be subject to other restrictions or technical limitations on the use of the Application. Generally, the Application's compatibility and other use restrictions and limitations will be described in the product descriptions or other information we provide for the Application, or in the terms of use for the application store you use to acquire the Application.

2.2 Use of the Application. You may use the Application only as permitted by the Agreement. For additional terms that apply to certain third party software, see the Legal Notices section within the Application.

2.3 Information Provided to Amazon. The Application may provide Amazon with information relating to the download, use and performance of the Application, as well as information regarding the devices on which you download and use the Application. For example, the Application may provide Amazon with information about your use of the Application (such as the stories you have read), the device type, mobile network connectivity, information about when the Application is launched, session lengths, and why the Application may not be working. Any information we receive is subject to the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.

3. CHANGES; TERMINATION

3.1 Changes. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Services, or any part of them, at any time without notice. If we discontinue your Amazon Rapids subscription, we will give you a prorated refund based on the number of days remaining in your subscription.

3.2 Suspension and Termination. Your rights under this Agreement will automatically terminate without notice if you fail to comply with its terms. We may terminate the Agreement or restrict, suspend, or terminate your use of the Services at our discretion without notice at any time, including if we determine that your use violates the Agreement or any applicable law, involves fraud or misuse of the Services, or is harmful to our interests or another user. If your subscription is restricted, suspended, or terminated, you may be unable to access the Services and you will not receive any refund of fees or any other compensation.

4. GENERAL

4.1 Waiver. Our failure to insist upon or enforce your strict compliance with the Agreement will not constitute a waiver of any of our rights.

4.2 Amendments. We may amend the Agreement at our sole discretion by posting the revised terms on or through the Services, or on Amazon.com. Your continued use of the Services after any amendment evidences your agreement to be bound by it.

4.3 Contact Information. For communications concerning the Agreement, please write to Amazon.com, Attn: Legal Department, P.O. Box 81226, Seattle, WA 98108-1226.

4.4 Severability. If any term or condition of the Agreement is found invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that part will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining term or condition.

4.5 Disputes/Binding Arbitration. Any dispute or claim arising from or relating to the Agreement or the Services is subject to the binding arbitration, governing law, disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability and all other terms in the Amazon.com Conditions of Use. You agree to those terms by entering into the Agreement or using the Application.

4.6 Limitation of Liability. Without limiting the disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability in the Amazon.com Conditions of Use, in no event will our or our licensors' total liability to you for all damages (other than as may be required by applicable law in cases involving personal injury) arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Services exceed the total fees you paid for the Services in the twelve months prior to the claim. These limitations will apply to you even if the remedies fail of their essential purpose.
